High-torque mini starter designed for Chevrolet V8 applications using a 168-tooth flywheel or flexplate. This PowerMax starter uses a gear-reduction drive to deliver strong, consistent cranking performance in a compact Mini Hitachi-style design, offering improved clearance around oil pans, headers, and chassis components compared to full-size starters.
Producing approximately 180 lb-ft of torque with a 6.10:1 gear reduction ratio, this starter is suitable for engines with moderate compression ratios up to 11.0:1. The adjustable aluminum mounting block allows the starter to be clocked in multiple positions to optimize fitment in tight engine bays. If a stock starter clears the oil pan, this starter typically will as well, and some applications may also clear kicked-out oil pans.
Each starter is supplied with mounting bolts and shims and includes a starter dyno report. This unit is new, not remanufactured, and finished in a gold iridited coating.
